Color Therapy Brings Energetic Changes

When I was introduced to color therapy in 1994, I read everything I could find on color.

Intuitively, I knew there was some great significance to this information.  What meant most to me was what I experienced when working with the color energy centers found in the body and energy field called chakras (wheels of light).  As I moved my hand out beyond my body, I could feel where the energy was stuck.  It felt like putting my hand into a light socket–a tingling sensation.  As I breathed color into this field of stuck energy, it changed. The tingling disappeared.

As you can see, my introduction to color therapy was more experiential than scientific.  Over the years more and more information has come forward that shows us what happens to energy.  Color is a form of energy so what I have learned has helped me put concepts to what I experienced.

I find the following to be an interesting (more scientific) explanation of how color therapy works.  It’s an excerpt from http://www.biopulse.org/color.html

Color is a living energy. It is a property of light. Light is energy produced by the sun in different wavelengths. As the light is absorbed and reflected we end up with different colors. Everything in nature is full of color. Vibration forms everything in life. The universe is only energy in vibration. Our body has energy fields (called chakras). All of our organs are comprised of vibrating atoms. All of us have our own unique energy system and our organs have different vibrational patterns. We all emit color.

Light has different particles called photons and microwaves. Light penetrates everything, even our bodies. Light also emits wavelengths that we cannot see (ultraviolet). These wavelengths contain radiation, which is energy. Energy is Qi and life. Now it is revealed that the length of a wave defines its color. In our environment there is an enormous quantity of waves with different frequency characteristics.

Moreover, concrete frequency and color corresponds to each organ. Having the electromagnetic nature the color cooperates with the energetic structures of a human body, strengthening or suppressing their vibrations. Significant changes in the energy structure of the person invariably entail changes at a physical level.

How Does Color Therapy Work?

The method of color therapy is based on the law of resonant colors interacting, conterminous to frequency characteristics of body.

There is a resonant interaction within zones of hands and feet (chakras energy points, acupuncture points of meridians and waves surrounding them) to a similar frequency of a color source (artificial or natural). The set of frequencies related to musical notes is an example of how colors works. If you place two properly tuned guitars in the same room and pluck the A string on one guitar, the A string on the second guitar will also ring. This is because the sound frequency of the A note traveled across the room causing the resonant frequency of the A string on the second guitar to sound. Likewise, the body’s organs have their own resonant frequencies related to the chakras and meridians. Hence, we can “tune ” our bodies for optimal wellness through color therapy by exposing our chakras and meridians to the specific color needed. The light beam is a language of the organism’s cells which communicate with each other, and they do so via photons and microwaves. The color scale promotes restoration of the energy balance broken by illness. Different colors give off different wavelength frequencies and these different frequencies have different effects on physical and psychological functions and consequently different disorders.

Now let’s look at color therapy as it is practiced around the world.

Color therapy comes in many forms . . .

  • Colored light
  • Color acupuncture
  • Breathing color
  • Creating art
  • Visualizing colors
  • Drinking water energized by certain colors
  • Wearing colors
  • Creating an environment with certain colors
  • Eating foods of different colors

Each form can affect you, although some will work with you better than others.  And sometimes you need a combination of color therapy techniques.

  Complementary Color Therapy

A closer look at how color therapy works using complementary color.

Color comes from various rays found in the full spectrum of light.  When light passes through a prism, it divides into colors.  Each shade of a color has a certain vibratory rate.  In order to be healthy, you need all the colors of the rainbow as flowing energy in your body and energy field.  If any part of the rainbow of colors is missing, it’s as if the vibrational “food” your body needs is missing.  Eventually this lack of color vibrations can cause discomfort and finally disease.

Einstein showed us that everything is energy in one form or another.  This includes thoughts, feelings, emotions, and patterns of behavior.  When thoughts keep cycling through without resolving a problem, this energy is stuck in a repeating pattern.  This does not allow the energy to flow.  The repetitions drain our energy and keep us from gaining new information.  Color therapy uses the vibrations of color to change the pattern so that the energy can again flow.  This opens the person to new thoughts or a new perspective on a problem which in turn can lead to solutions.

Have you ever tried to stop thinking about something that upset you?  You can distract your mind for awhile, but it will tend to come back to the same place analyzing the situation over and over.  The emotions become more ingrained as you continue to repeat the situation.  You are stuck in the cycle.

For example, as a young child my brother convinced me that soap tasted good.  Then, when I bit into it he laughed and laughed.  I carried that embarrassment into adulthood.  I took on a belief that I was naive.  Through color therapy, I was able to stop that cycling of remembering and feeling embarrassed.  The process was simple.  It changed the energy so I never had to deal with that stuck energy again.

On this web site, we offer information about many ways to experience color therapy.  We also show you how Complementary Color Therapy brings you a simple and very effective way to shift your energy without any machines or special tools.  All you need is your imagination and your breath.

We know that each person will be drawn to the transformational system that best fits their needs.  Please explore the variety of systems highlighted on this site and enjoy the journey.
