Not again!

This is the third time I have moved in less than a year.  And yet, all the moving has brought me to my new apartment that looks out on trees and sky. Right now I am sitting on my porch as a slight breeze wafts through. It’s just the process that is daunting. Sorting through stuff! What to keep; what to release. What feels good now? But that trinket reminds me of my trip to Egypt. That was when I was in college. I hardly remember that trip. Pictures of me on a camel! Bits and pieces. Part of my journey. But I feel like a different person now. The same in many ways, yet different. Does the memory of that trip support this moment? Not so much. What will I do with that trinket? Put it on shelf? Store it in a box? Would I revisit it for reasons that help me move forward now? Probably not. Perhaps it would bless someone else on their journey. Moving requires sorting—again!  Not my favorite activity. But isn’t that a way of keeping the journey fresh and relevant? What thoughts support my current Life journey? Which ones keep me cycling in old stuff? What emotions tie me to past experiences that I have already processed? Here I am in this place of trees and natural beauty. Am I going to stay in the past or be in this moment of tranquility and peace? Every day we have the choice. Will I stay tied to the past or will I be present now? I have just been listening to Narayan and Janet’s CD...

Attunement

Earth and all its inhabitants are shifting octaves, tuning to a new song. With a heart now freed and expanded, join the chorus that radiates compassion and understanding. Ride the wave of change with ease. Feel the wave. Join the wave. Become the wave.                                                                           from the Luminary Attunement   Our calling is clear! We are the change we have been waiting for. We have lifted many of the old habits and patterns that have kept us playing small. We are now free to join the wave of change. This new way of being doesn’t have to be difficult. We can ride this wave of change and then become the wave of change itself. This is not about waiting until we feel ready. This is about living an inner commitment that came with you into this life. Attunement is here to help you. You have been releasing old emotional patterns that have kept you stuck and ways of living that no longer reflect who you are. This has left spaces in your energy field. Step into the matrix of “Attunement.” As it spins you into higher vibrations, it rearranges your energy. There is now more room to receive the universal compassion that surrounds you.                                                                                 from the Luminary Attunement   We are allowing ourselves to evolve. What does your personal evolution look like? How are you acting and responding differently. Now let...

Unfolding

“There is so much more within your crystalline core than you yet know. It is time for your unfolding. One step at a time is all it takes.”         Unfolding, a card from the Luminaries Deck, encourages us to go deeper. There is more that is unfolding from within our core. When I visualize the process of unfolding, I see a bed sheet carefully folded and stored in a closet. One day you are led to bring this sheet out. Carefully, you unfold it. There are creases in it from having sat in that closet for so long. You smooth out the creases, feeling the soothing touch of closely woven cotton. You had almost forgotten that this sheet was in your closet. You smell it’s fresh scent. You touch it to your cheek. You know that it is familiar even though you have not taken it out for so long. “There is so much more with your crystalline core. . .” What else might be in that closet? What other precious attributes have you set aside? It may seem strange to focus on unfolding at a time when there is so much uncertainty. But that’s the point. We are being led to take one step into a new way of being. The uncertainty has removed our solid footing that was firmly placed in patterns of life that were familiar. What better time to step forward, even gingerly, to create a new platform from which to live! Unfolding goes on to encourage us: “At the right time and in the right place, as you connect with...

Nap-itate in Color to Revive Your Energy

Nap-itate is a combination of the words Nap and Meditate. It fully describes my almost daily practice. Nap:  I lie down and relax deeply. Meditate:  I use a simple color breathing exercise to balance my complementary chakra colors (see below) as I stay open to ideas, messages, or pictures that surface. I wake up totally revived! Often, I write down what came to me or I dive into a creative project that came to me while nap-itating. I have known for at least a week that I wanted to write a blog post for a newsletter I would be sending out. I couldn’t seem to settle on a topic.  Then, my friend sent me an article about how napping can be extremely healthy for the body. That was it! I felt a desire to share how nap-itating has helped me. Those of you who have busy lives may wonder how you can take that time at work or even at home to nap-itate. While I was in training to be a Spiritual Guide and Healing Facilitator, I worked for a small manufacturing company.  I noticed that I was very productive in the morning, but felt like the air had gone out of my energy balloon after lunch.  I had to push myself to finish the day. I had been used to nap-tating at home before I took the job, but now it did not seem feasible to continue this practice. At some point, I decided I had to find a way to revive my energy! I started leaving the office after I ate lunch.  I...

Between the Poles

Are you feeling fatigued by the flood of changes, disruptions, and sense of chaos in the world around us? Has it spilled over into your personal life? Recently, I found myself saying, “ I need a vacation!” Nothing in my life seemed to be flowing. I planned; things changed.  I was ready to throw up my hands and get out of town. Taking a break can be very beneficial. Opting out in frustration, not so much.   A quote in an article sent to me by a friend helped me put things into perspective: “If you do not trust life to unfold, the mind takes over and it becomes a game of strategy, motivated by anxiety. This mistrust is unfair. Life has given us so much, and yet we do not trust it.” http://hackspirit.com/15-quotes-modern-day-zen-master-will-blow-mind-wide-open/ I’ve learned that trusting doesn’t mean sitting around waiting for the Universe to rain down all things good. I’m still the one in human form that needs to act when the time is right. However, action out of frustration or action intended to kick the ball forward with no attention to the game, usually ends badly. I find that I am learning a new way of being. We don’t need to operate from one pole that is frustrated- action or the other pole that is trust that it will all be taken care of. There is a balance somewhere In the middle. In between frustration and blind trust (of an outside force) is a place of awake, aware action guided by inner trust. How do we get to that in between place? Here is a...

Clarity and Courage

What does clarity look like to you? Does it mean you have a clear life path–a sense of what you are here in this life for. Or perhaps clarity means you see who you are, not from another’s perspective, but from getting real with yourself. And sometimes that comes because you have said, “No, that’s not who I am.” Clarity can also mean that you have cleared away old messages about life, it’s meaning, your obligations to others, and all the many “should’s” that were heaped on you. This can leave you with a clean slate–a place to start that doesn’t have all the puzzle pieces of life already assembled for you. Then, you can fill that slate with what seems real to you; what makes you happy; what stokes your passion without expecting others to have the same things on their slate. In other words, you don’t have to compare yourself to others or to measure up to some imaginary yardstick that says, “Be this, do that, think this so you will be acceptable.” That’s where courage comes in. With nobody else’s parameters defining you, this new kind of freedom can be daunting.  “What if I leave behind something that is important? What if I am just kidding myself? Can I be this capable, this able to navigate my own life?” “Will I lose family and friends because I am not conforming? Will I have those in my life who are willing to listen to me and want to share ideas without telling me what’s right and wrong?” The color Yellow, along with Purple, give us tools for clarity...

When You Feel Outrage, What Do You do?

During the craziness of the political scene in the US, I have been able to remain in my observation mode. That is, until a few days ago. As I heard what was being done to the Affordable Care Act, I found myself losing my inner balance, feeling outraged. Fortunately, I was aware enough to do what works best for me—journaling. I ask questions of my Inner Spirit. The answer I received seems helpful so I decided to share it with you     “Dear One, we understand your outrage. It’s mirrored in many across your nation. But now is the time for sober contemplation. Remember, you create in an instant so what your rage against will become stronger. This chaos is part of the plan. It reveals every unaligned person, event, situation, plan, and intention. Sit in meditation with your vision of a nation and world in alignment. What does that look like? How does it feel? What color represents this harmony of the polarities that make up your experiences? Trust your knowing that tells you there is more going on than meets the eye. The Christ consciousness is working in the cracks—the places of concern, questions, and doubt. These cracks are what will topple the old structures. Christ Consciousness works as a wave of awakening. You first see beyond the veil that seeks to get you to focus away from what is happening. This sleight-of-hand keeps humanity in an uproar. You just experienced that. Now, breathe into your center. Align with a favorite color. Become that frequency. Adjust your vision to see through the veil; to see what...

Be a Headlight, Not a Tail light!

Picture from: CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=248022 Let’s be a Headlight; not a Tail Light! Headlights lead the way! Tail lights follow what’s out in front! How can you best be a headlight? Speak up! Being a headlight doesn’t always mean your leadership is highly visible.  It can mean that you speak up with integrity wherever you are. You are an influence with your family, friends, and groups you are part of. How we speak up is as important as actually speaking up.  I see many who are reacting with anger or frustration. The frequency of this reaction actually breeds more discord. So, what do we do instead? In the moment, we can turn to the frequencies of colors for assistance.  Ask that whatever colors can best help you, to surround you, giving you strength and clarity. Because each color has its own consciousness, the frequencies of color know how they can best serve you. This will allow you to take a deep breath so that your immediate reaction stays in alignment with your internal integrity. Personal Transformation Gandhi said,”“As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world – that is the myth of the atomic age – as in being able to remake ourselves.” In order to remake ourselves, we must take time to be aware and then use our tools to change, in ourselves, what we would change in the world In your own private time I suggest that you see what is behind the anger and frustration. It’s important to acknowledge and express that anger, but this can be done...

Staying Open-Hearted in Crazy-making Times

What Does This Have to Do with the Holiday Spirit? This morning I watched pictures of the city of Aleppo and heard stories of unimaginable cruelty. Last night I enjoyed a special time with family, giving and receiving gifts, putting together a puzzle, watching dog antics, and laughing. In a time of such tragedy and uncertainty, how do we stay open-hearted without dropping deep into the despair so many feel? And what does this have to do with the holiday spirit? My answers always come back to the spiritual journey. When someone close to us dies, we feel the loss. We mourn. Yet, in the midst of the very real pain of mourning, we turn for comfort to family, nature, and the enduring human spirit that, at its best, is rooted in love. During our mourning there are– times of tears and times of laughter; times of regret and times of celebration; times of wanting to leave this world and times of determination to make every moment count. This is also true when the human spirit loses its way. We mourn then as well. What we are experiencing now in the world and in our country may feel like the deep loss of love. Yet, if we become that loss, we add to the depressive spirit that forgets there is also hope. Living in this dichotomy of grief and celebration can feel crazy-making.  We may feel that celebrating is unreal in the midst of that which wrenches the heart. We see and experience so much that shows us a heartless humanity. We may blame, gnash our teeth, feel like victims....

Power and Poise

The dragonfly in this picture came to my friend Peggy and me while we were browsing in a second hand store. It met us outside before we came in and again appeared hanging onto an earring in the jewelry section. Peggy whipped out her phone-camera and took picture after picture. The dragonfly stayed put, allowing us to experience its presence with amazement.       Recently, dragonfly came to me again as I was considering what we have been learning from the chaos in the world. It is apparent that messages about power and empowerment are a big part of what we are receiving. “The dragonfly, in almost every part of the world, symbolizes change and change in the perspective of self realization; and the kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity and the understanding of the deeper meaning of life.” http://www.dragonfly-site.com/meaning-symbolize.html  As we view what is going on in the world, we might question whether we have grown in mental and emotional maturity.  We see people looking for something or someone outside themselves to “save the world.” They are ready to give their power over to others only to be disappointed again and again. Change through Self-Realization If looking outside ourselves for the answers hasn’t worked, that must mean we are to look inside.    Empowered living requires discernment that comes from our inner knowing which then activates deep authentic integrity into action. This different kind of power is part of our inherent essence. Actions are then in alignment with a passion that comes from deep within. We do what is naturally our truth, fully aware...
